Rhett Barnett is quickly making a name for himself at South City Theatre. His drive and passion for theatre has been a welcome addition to our stage. We are so happy to have his rambunctious personality shining through in this leading role. Meet The Cast from Night of January 16th: Michael Wilbanks
Michael Wilbanks, a teacher by trade, has found a home at South City Theatre. He has been a teacher at Thompson middle school for 24 years. He developed a love for theatre at an early age, and has been pursuing that passion for decades. He will be a part of ‘The Night of January 16th’ production this upcoming week and is thrilled to be a part of this team at South City.
SCT Announces Auditions for UH-OH HERE COMES CHRISTMAS
Auditions will be held at South City Theatre in Pelham, AL. Auditionees will be required to wear a mask and to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination, in order to protect our staff, other auditionees, cast, crew, and patrons.
Director Rachael Upton is looking to cast 2-3 adult women and 2-3 adult men. Please come prepared to read from the script and to sing the chorus of “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” a capella. (Note: Singers are NOT required. This show has the flexibility to be a musical or a non-musical, and this will depend on who is ultimately cast).
UH-OH HERE COMES CHRISTMAS “takes a funny, heartwarming, and often poignant look at the struggle to find the spirit of the holidays amid the avalanche of commercialism, stress, and chaos that crashes down every December.” This is primarily a storytelling piece, with all cast members playing multiple roles.
Show dates will be December 9-10 and 16-18 at 7:30 pm. Matinees will be at 2:00 pm on December 10 and December 18. Performances will take place at First United Methodist Church of Alabaster.

South City Theatre is Going to Court!
Join us in October when South City Theatre travels to the historic Shelby County Courthouse and the Pelham Municipal Courtroom for the trial of the century! Karen Andre is accused of murdering her former boss and lover, Bjorn Faulkner. You, the audience, will decide.
Performances at the Shelby County Courthouse, 112 North Main Street, Columbiana, AL, will be October 8 & 9 at 7:30 and October 10 at 2:00.
Performances at the Pelham Municipal Courtroom, 32 Phillip Davis Street, Pelham, AL, will be October 14, 15 & 16 at 7:30 and October 17 at 2:00.
Tickets are $16 for adults and $13 for students (under 18) and seniors (over 60). They may be purchased online at southcitytheatre.com or reserved by calling (205) 621-2128. Night of January 16th is a theatrical play by Russian-American author Ayn Rand, inspired by the death of the “Match King”, Ivar Kreuger. The jury is chosen from members of the audience. Is Karen guilty of murdering her former lover in a fit of jealousy? Did Karen’s new lover kill Faulkner? Was someone blackmailing Karen? Was Faulkner’s death the result of a conspiracy? Did Faulkner commit suicide? The case is presented then the jury is tasked with returning a verdict of innocent or guilty.
Directed by Donna Stinson Williamson, the play stars Lara Alvis, Michelle Vercher, Rhett Barnett, Bill Nixon, Tara Bennett, Meredith Carpenter, Tyler Costley, Thomas Robinson, Madelyn Harbison, Sharon Morgan, Katie Hamff, Jon Curren, Leslie Price and Michael Wilbanks.
