Announcing Our 2021-2022 Season

South City Theatre bringing you a mixture of audience favorites and new (to us) pieces. Our 21st season will include six plays, one musical, one musical review, and our ACTFest competition piece. There may even be a surprise or two along the way.

Please note the location of each production as many of our shows will be touring this year.

Night of January 16th by Ayn Rand, directed by Donna Williamson, sponsored by the Shelby County Bar Association. Performances at Shelby County Courthouse, Columbiana October 8 – 10. Performances at Pelham Municipal Courtroom on October 14 – 17.

Special Fundraiser Event: MTI’s All Together Now! A Global Event Celebrating Local Theatre* Directed by Michele Santiago.Performances at The Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit, 858 Kent Dairy Rd, Alabaster, AL 35007, November 12, 13 and 15 at 7:30 pm and a matinee on Sunday, November 14, at 2:00 pm.

Uh-Oh, Here Comes Christmas. Based on the books by Robert Fulghum. Adapted by Ernest Zulia and David Caldwell. Music and lyrics by David Caldwell. Directed by Rachael Upton. In collaboration with Alabaster First United Methodist Church. Performances at Alabaster First United Methodist Church December 9 – 11 and December 16 – 18.

ACTFest 2021-2022 Entry: Matt and Ben* by Mindy Kaling and Brenda Withers. Directed by Donna Williamson. South City Theatre’s entry into ACTFest 2021-2022. Benefit performances will be in January at South City Theatre. ACTFest performance will be held at Shelton State Community College in Tuscaloosa the weekend of January 14 – 15, 2022.

Panache by Don Gordon, directed by Michael BridgesPerformances at South City Theatre on January 27, 28, 29 & 30; February 3, 4, 5, and 6. Performances at Homewood Library on February 11 & 12.

The Diary of Anne Frank by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett. Directed by Lisa Ponder. Performances at South City Theatre April 21 – 24 and April 28 – May 1.

The Course Acting Showcase by Michael Green. Directed by Daniel Strickland. Performances at South City Theatre in June.

Seussical Music by STEPHEN FLAHERTY, Lyrics by LYNN AHRENS, Book by LYNN AHRENS and STEPHEN FLAHERTY, Co-Conceived by LYNN AHRENS, STEPHEN FLAHERTY, and ERIC IDLE. Based on the Works of DR. SEUSS. Directed by Jessie Kisor. Performances will be in late July.

The Sweet Delilah Swim Club by Jones, Hope, Whooten. Directed by Rachael Upton. Performances at South City Theatre August 18-21 and August 25-28.
