Bill Nixon, a native Floridian, was born to play an attorney! Before retirement, he was a medicinal chemistry professor, but he missed his calling. Maybe all those years in the classroom prepared him for a legal career. With many years of performance under his belt, South City is thrilled to have him as a regular on our stage. Will his client, Karen Andre, be set free or will she spend the rest of her life in prison?

Michael Wilbanks, a teacher by trade, has found a home at South City Theatre. He has been a teacher at Thompson middle school for 24 years. He developed a love for theatre at an early age, and has been pursuing that passion for decades. He will be a part of ‘The Night of January 16th’ production this upcoming week and is thrilled to be a part of this team at South City.

Join us in October when South City Theatre travels to the historic Shelby County Courthouse and the Pelham Municipal Courtroom for the trial of the century! Karen Andre is accused of murdering her former boss and lover, Bjorn Faulkner. You, the audience, will decide.
Performances at the Shelby County Courthouse, 112 North Main Street, Columbiana, AL, will be October 8 & 9 at 7:30 and October 10 at 2:00.
Performances at the Pelham Municipal Courtroom, 32 Phillip Davis Street, Pelham, AL, will be October 14, 15 & 16 at 7:30 and October 17 at 2:00.
Tickets are $16 for adults and $13 for students (under 18) and seniors (over 60). They may be purchased online at southcitytheatre.com or reserved by calling (205) 621-2128. The production is sponsored by the Shelby County Bar Association. Shelby County Bar members should call the Bar Association to purchase tickets. Masks will be required for all attendees.
Night of January 16th is a theatrical play by Russian-American author Ayn Rand, inspired by the death of the “Match King”, Ivar Kreuger. The jury is chosen from members of the audience. Is Karen guilty of murdering her former lover in a fit of jealousy? Did Karen’s new lover kill Faulkner? Was someone blackmailing Karen? Was Faulkner’s death the result of a conspiracy? Did Faulkner commit suicide? The case is presented then the jury is tasked with returning a verdict of innocent or guilty.
Directed by Donna Stinson Williamson, the play stars Lara Alvis, Michelle Vercher, Rhett Barnett, Bill Nixon, Tara Bennett, Meredith Carpenter, Tyler Costley, Thomas Robinson, Madelyn Harbison, Sharon Morgan, Katie Hamff, Jon Curren, Leslie Price and Michael Wilbanks.
